COURSE DESCRIPTION

Most current medical students grew up in the current age of inxformation. While some organizations have taken to this inxformation shift quickly, the field of medicine is a little behind in this regard, but with good reason, due to the sensitivity and complexity of the inxformation involved.
The purpose of this course is to prepare students to develop the required knowledge, attitudes,
skills and practices necessary to manage healthcare inxformation and thus efficiently influence and continuously improve elements of care delivery within a healthcare organization.
They will practice how to develop different tools and graphs used for statistical analysis of data either for research purposes or for improving perxformance in a healthcare organization.
Basic descriptive and inferential Statistical tools will be practically applied by Excel or similar programs. In addition to presentations. class discussions, case studies, scenarios and other teaching methods will be used.

Instructor Biography:

Dr.Ola Gamal Khashaba

Dr.Ola Gamal Khashaba is a Consultant doctor specialized in Clinical and Chemical Pathology (MD in Immunology) for over 30 years.
She’s currently the Quality Manager 
and Deputy of the Head of the Clinical and Chemical Pathology Department; Cairo
University Hospitals (CUHs), currently responsible for the Quality Management and accreditation project of the hospitals; laboratories.
She assisted with the laboratory 
teams to achieve International ISO15189 Accreditation of 5 units of the Clinical Pathology department in the past 2 years. She supervised and shared in many theses, researches and several International projects, in addition to sharing in teaching and training of residents and doctors.
She started her career in quality by earning the 
“Diploma of total Quality Management in Healthcare” (TQM) from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in 2003 and since Dec. 2004 she was designated as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and recertified till 2020.
She is currently a 
Certified Professional in Health Inxxxxformation and Management Systems (CPHIMS from the Health Inxxxxformation and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) of USA since 2013 and recertified till 2022.
She is a Certified International Professional Trainer (CIPT) 
since 2015. She worked for 3 years as the Director of the Medical Records and Statistics Department, CUHs.
Leading a systems- change in the department.
She was the 
director (in 2017) and is currently a faculty member of the joined "Quality Management and Patient Safety Professional Certificate Program; launched by the Children Cancer Hospital Foundation 57357 & Joint Commission International (JCI). She is also a Part- time Instructor at American University in Cairo (AUC) since 2007.
